Drinking lots of water does wonders for your skin. If you’ve ever suffered from dry, itchy or flaky skin, the cause could well be a lack of hydration in your body. Staying hydrated will improve your complexion and result in soft skin that glows. The reason for this is that water is required by the body in order for it to complete certain processes that push toxins out of our body. Without water, the system does not work and the result is unclean skin and a build up of dirt, which eventually turns into acne, blackheads and dermatitis.
Keeping Hydrated Helps Keep Your Liver and Kidneys Working Properly
Your kidneys and liver play a really important role in your body. Your kidney filters hundreds of quarts of blood a day, removing any toxins as it does so. All of this waste material is then turned into urine and exits the body. Without your kidneys, you would have too many toxins in your blood and this will eventually be fatal. To keep your kidneys and liver working well, it is important to drink a lot of water. Water flushes out any unwanted bacteria from these organs and allows them to get on with their important jobs.
Drinking Water Can Stop You From Gaining Weight
First off, water is actually quite filling. If you drink a big glass of water before dinner you will be less hungry and therefore eat less food. Furthermore, when we don’t drink enough, our body does not produce enough energy so it sends signals to our brain telling it to get more energy. This makes us want to eat. Keeping your cells hydrated will stop these signals from being sent to the brain and stop it from telling us to go and eat.
Good Hydration Will Slow Down the Aging Process
Not only does lots of water give you good skin and stop you from wrinkling as easily, but it also works wonders on your internal bodily systems. Without water, our organs have to work a lot harder to perform their functions. If we stay hydrated, we lift some of this burden, allowing our organs to carry on working for longer. In this sense water is literally the elixir of life.
